The Challenge

D.A.Ranch Vineyards is a boutique, family-owned property in Cornville, Arizona featuring vineyards, a lodge and an event venue for hire. It had a WordPress website that was built using a cookie-cutter template. The way the site was built made content difficult to manage and made it impossible for the business to present its desired look and feel. The original site also was overly complicated.

The Solution

I created a brand-new custom website from scratch, using WordPress at the core but dispensing with the cookie-cutter template. I worked closely with the team at D.A.Ranch to devise a clean, easy-to-use custom design and information architecture. I wrote code using the latest technology available in WordPress (custom Gutenberg blocks), to make it simple to have a custom layout on every page that’s easy to edit.

The Result

The D.A.Ranch website features an unusually bespoke layout that differs on every page yet maintains consistent branding and easy visitor flow and usability. It includes a wine tasting calendar, an event listing system, newsletter signup forms, event signup forms, an embedded Instagram feed and more.

The large, beautiful images throughout the site are easy for D.A.Ranch staff to update, and the rest of the site’s content is easily manageable as well. Everything morphs to work equally well on mobile devices and computers.
