The Challenge

The Poodle Club of America, a national club that promotes breeding, training and showing of purebred poodles since 1931, had an outdated website. The site was built with the Joomla content management system and was clunky and difficult to manage. It needed a new website that was simple to manage, clear to navigate and easy to use.

The Solution

I built a new website from scratch — with WordPress at its core — and imported the content from the original website into the new one. I also consulted with Poodle Club managers to help create a better way to organize the information on the site. I created a custom system to make it easy to manage poodle show results, which require a lot of data to be entered.

Other custom features include a system for displaying cards on the home page, a slideshow, a custom members-only section and a directory of poodle breeders nationwide. The whole website works equally well on all types of devices.

The Result

The Poodle Club of American website now features a clean, easy-to-use custom design with typography that’s accessible to visitors of all ages. The most important information on the site can be found via highlights on the home page. In addition to well-organized results poodle shows over the years, downloads of the club newsletter and other documents are available.

An integrated online shop enables the club to sell merchandise and collect membership dues.

Poole Club of America website

The Poodle of America faced the enormous task of trying to create a web site that could easily be updated by multiple users. The site was originally created on a platform that required a very skilled web person to use/update.

As the project manager for the Poodle Club of America, I was tasked with the responsibility of converting our old web site to the easier, more user-friendly WordPress format. After an extensive search, we selected Raven’s Eye Design to do the job. Chad was very patient and thorough in his assessment of what the job would entail and laid out an extremely well organized plan of how to do this. It was a pleasure to work with Chad and he over-exceeded our expectations.

The job was finished right on schedule. Chad gave us very valuable suggestions on improving our site. He also offered the group plenty of explanation and instructions on keeping the site updated going forward. We selected the option of retaining Chad’s services beyond the conversion process to help monitor the site’s security. I am thankful we found Chad and we are completely satisfied with his work.
