The Challenge

The Green Valley Fire District originally had a WordPress-based website that was difficult to manage, overly complex and suffered from an outdated look and feel. It didn’t include features that District administrators needed to serve its community. The website was in need of a major reorganization of information, an updated design and several new features.

The Solution

I worked closely with the fire chief and District staff to determine the best ways to meet the needs of the District, then built a custom website from scratch using WordPress at its core with a completely new design and custom administrative controls to make everything easy to use. Everything is designed to work equally well on phones, tablets and computers of all sizes.

The Result

The Green Valley Fire District website now features a home page with a custom layout that’s easy to edit using the latest WordPress editor technology (Gutenberg blocks). The home page has a slideshow that’s easy to edit.

The website has a system for displaying multiple photo galleries, embedded videos, an event listing system and an integrated system to display recent District-related news. Custom contact forms handle requests for service, customer feedback and more to relieve District staff of paperwork burden.

The site also features a custom system for displaying meeting notices and agendas by date. The system automatically handles archiving old information.
